About the College

Conveniently located in Winnipeg, near the heart of the city, MTCM - The Massage Therapy College of Manitoba was founded in 1994. At the core of our organization is the belief that massage therapy education should emphasize the art and the science of our profession through a compassionate hands-on approach.

The physical environment of our college reflects our personality: warm and inviting. We feature a fully equipped student lounge, locker facilities, a library and classrooms with plenty of natural light. Our private clinic rooms also feature serene, comfortable surroundings that are therapeutic for both our clients and students alike.

This belief, coupled with our standard of excellence, has been recognized by COMTA (Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation), a respected external accrediting agency that specializes in the accreditation of Massage Therapy programs. We strive for a reputation throughout the country and abroad as one of leadership, diversity and innovation.

Within the college, our creative course flow includes both full and part-time options, allowing students to progress through the program at a pace that’s right for them. Our technique and business classes, matched with the practical experience offered here, helps prepare our graduates for various career paths. Many alumnae are successfully employed in a diverse range of exciting and exotic environments including multidisciplinary clinics, luxury spas, cruise ships and the beaches of the Cayman Islands.

Thank you for considering the profession of massage therapy and, specifically, The Massage Therapy College of Manitoba. By visiting this website you have taken the first step towards a life altering career choice, one that I have found both personally fascinating and professionally fulfilling for over 20 years.

In 1986, I was living in New York City and pursuing a career in dance and theatre when I suffered a severe back injury; until then I had never experienced the benefits of massage therapy nor had I considered it more than a relaxing luxury. That was before I went for my first treatment. Not only did therapeutic massage help me fully recover, but it opened my eyes to the power of touch and the importance of balance, both mentally and physically, in one’s life. Needless to say, that first massage altered my career path, and sent me on a journey that has provided far more than an occupation.

I have always been thankful for the varying paths that life has sent me on, perhaps never more so than when the opportunity arose to purchase the college from our founder, Ruth Campbell. Ruth laid a strong foundation based on the pursuit of excellence and compassion for others. This philosophy continues to guide all our decisions today.

There are few things that matter more to me than this college, its reputation and all our students, both past and present, who have been its heart. As you continue to read, you will learn more about what makes our college unique, however, while words can be a powerful influence, I feel our best qualities should only be experienced first hand.
